1. Match the paper size
Choose US Letter in the generator if your paper is 8.5 × 11 inches. Choose A4 if your paper is 210 × 297 millimeters. Use the same size in the printer dialog; changing sizes later can alter margins and label dimensions.
2. Print at Actual size
Open the PDF and select “Actual size” or 100% scale. Turn off “Fit,” “Fill page,” and borderless enlargement. SchoolSheet already includes a 0.35-inch printer-safe margin.
3. Check orientation
First-day signs, name labels, and routine charts use portrait orientation. Weekly schedules and lunch planners use landscape orientation. The PDF page itself is already oriented correctly, but some printer dialogs need the matching setting selected.
4. Test special paper
Before using adhesive label stock, cardstock, or expensive paper, print one copy on plain paper. Hold it behind the special stock to confirm alignment. For bottles or lunch containers, use printer-compatible waterproof label stock or cover a fully dry paper label with clear tape.
5. Make charts reusable
Print routine charts on cardstock, then laminate them or place them in a dry-erase sleeve. Use the reusable output style and a dry-erase marker. Keep small caps and markers away from young children.
If something clips or shifts
- Confirm the PDF paper size matches the loaded paper.
- Return scale to 100% or Actual size.
- Turn off borderless printing.
- Try printing from a current PDF reader instead of an in-browser preview.
- Use ink-saving mode if heavy color areas print unevenly.
